When Lynn Berman’s daughter, Sara Berman Popek, was pregnant with twins and put on bed rest for 60 days, Lynn knew that making friends at the hospital would be very important for Sara’s long stay. So, Lynn baked, and baked and brought cookies to share with the doctors and nurses and soon caretakers of all kinds began dropping by to say hello and yes, why not…try a cookie, or two.
Despite the fact that Lynn had been in the business of making cookies for the hospital employees, she had not yet really seen herself truly in the cookie business. Sara and Lynn remained busy with cookies for several years, albeit “unofficially,” as the go-to bakers for their friends and families. Even Sara’s husband Bill, a corporate professional, provided cookies to his sales teams so they could sweeten up the company’s clients.
Thousands of cookies and lots of research and development later, the mother-daughter team launched Nothinglikeit.com in August 2010 as a way to celebrate the 5th birthday of Sara’s twin boys, Baye and Reese – the very reason for the birth of the company.
